The doctors moved Kathi out of the intensive care unit today, just one day after surgery. Last time she spent three days in ICU.

Kathi is resting comfortably and is awake, alert and talking.

Her husband Rick said when he and their two daughters walked into Kathi's room she looked down at them and said "I made it!"

Her doctors say the surgery Wednesday went well. As they've done in the past, they took as much of the tumor as they could but were unable to get all of it. To take it all would be too risky and might damage some important nerves.

Kathi will likely be in the hospital for several days before returning home to recover. She will then begin radiation treatment to hopefully get rid of that little bit of tumor that's left.

Kathi is a fighter and will do everything she possibly can to beat this once and for all. Her grace and strength will get her through but prayers from us all will help.

It was her fourth surgery in 10 years to deal with the tumor.
