Our colleague Kathi Goertzen is taking a little more time off to heal.

Doctors say her brain tumor continues to shrink, which is great news.

But her radiation treatments caused some harsh side effects, and she needs some time away from the anchor desk. Doctors tell Kathi that it's not unusual for the after effects of radiation treatment to show up from six to nine months after the treatment ends.

The doctors are reassuring, saying the effects will dissipate, but they don't know how long that will take.

Kathi is anxious to get back to work and says she already misses the newsroom and viewers. As soon as doctors give her the green light she'll be back and on the air.

For now, she's getting some rest and making sure she does everything necessary to heal quickly.
