Dear friends,

I've hit a small bump in the road on this path to recovery. Turns out some of the best medicine can pose some challenges.

The good news is the latest scan shows the brain tumor that has caused problems for me for the last several years is shrinking. My doctors think the radiation treatment I received is working.

Unfortunately, some of the surrounding nerves, including my facial nerve, were affected too. The thinking is the nerves can recover, though it takes time.

So, for now, I'm working on my patience and doing what I can to continue to heal.

Though it's frustrating for me, I am staying positive and focusing on the good news.

I really hope I can get back to the anchor desk soon.
