Award-winning meteorologist Jim Castillo anchors the weather weekday mornings on KOMO 4. Jim begins his day around 2:30 am when he gets up to shower and then race into the television to prepare his fresh forecast for Western Washington, make weather maps, do internet weather updates and the weather on several radio stations. You'll not only see Jim beginning at 5 am Monday through Friday, you can also hear him on KOMO 1000 AM, Star 101.5 with Kent and Alan, and KMPS.

Jim, who joined KOMO in September 2006, brings over 18 years of weather forecasting experience, from tropical systems and large thunderstorm events to blizzards and Nor' Easters. Winner of 4 Emmys, two AP Awards, and a Golden Mic, Jim has forecasted for major markets across the United States including Seattle, New York Ctiy, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia. Jim is known for his accurate forecasting coupled with his fun on-air personality.

Prior to KOMO, Jim served as one of the main meteorologists at a station in New York City, in fact the 10 O'Clock was the number one news at 10 the entire time he was on WNYW. Before that, he was Chief Meteorologist for KCBS in Los Angeles, where he anchored the weeknight 5, 6 and 11pm newscasts. Previously, he served as the chief meteorologist for Q13, where over a three-year period he became one of Seattle's favorite weathercasters. Before Seattle, Jim was the very first meteorologist for Good Day Philadelphia. Earlier in his career he held stints at local affiliates in Texas and became a tornado chaser.

Jim earned his meteorology degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he was on the Dean's list and served as the on-air weather forecaster at the University-owned station, and he interned at the National Weather Service.

Jim is a member of the American Meteorologist Society and has held the Seal of Approval since 1993. Throughout his career, Jim as participated in a number of charitable organizations, including multiple sclerosis, which his mother has been living with since he was 10 years old, Toys for Tots, Meals on Wheels, Gods Love We Deliver, and contributed to many more charities.

Just for fun, Jim has had several small roles in major motion pictures. “Leap of Faith” with Steve Martin and Debra Winger, Jim was a photographer. “Blink” with Madeleine Stowe and Aidan Quinn, Jim had 2 roles, one as a waiter and the other as a bar patron. “With Honors” with Joe Pesci and Brenden Fraser, Jim played a fraternity guy. “Duplex” with Drew Barrymore and Ben Stiller, Jim played a weatherman in New York City when he was a Meteorologist at KCBS in Los Angeles.
