Akiko Fujita

By Scott Sistek

Akiko Fujita joined KOMO 4 News in July 2006. She is a native of Los Angeles, but Akiko has called the Northwest home since 2002.

She began her broadcast career in the small town of Pocatello, Idaho. As a "one-man-band" reporter for KIFI-TV, she braved the frigid elements for two years. In 2004, Akiko made the move to Seattle as a reporter for NorthWest Cable News. For two years, she traveled all across the northwest covering everything from the eruption of Mt. St. Helens to the disputed 2004 Governor's election.

Akiko is a proud graduate of the University of Southern California where she majored in Broadcast Journalism and International Relations. While journalism is her first love, Akiko enjoys spending her days away from the newsroom rooting on her beloved Trojans, shopping, and planning her next trip abroad.

Akiko is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association and fluent in Japanese.
