Sara Johnson

Sara Johnson's is a Seattle native who was raised in the Wedgwood neighborhood where her parents still own a home. Her interest in broadcasting started at Western Washington University in the late 70's, but her career as a traffic reporter started in 1982 when her radio boss at the old KING 1090 asked her if she wanted to watch the highways from a Cessna 172. The idea intrigued her and a longtime career began.

After spending nearly seven years as an airborne reporter, Sara did news and traffic stints with KZOK FM, KIRO Radio and Metro Networks before landing a full time job as a midday traffic reporter with KOMO NewsRadio.

When she isn't on the air, Sara enjoys gardening, photography, long walks, trips to warm places, Thai food and time at home with daughter Michelle, a college senior saving up for a place of her own. Cats Zip and Zoom, 14 year old brothers adopted as kittens from the Eastgate Humane Society, round out the family.

Proudest accomplishments include producing a wonderful daughter, flying with the Blue Angels without getting air sick, and helping commuters navigate Puget Sound area roadways. "Anytime someone calls to say I saved them a bunch of time recommending an alternate route, I know I've done my job," says Johnson, adding "I give the KOMO listeners tons of credit for making me sound good. Their traffic tips are second to none."
