Ryan took the overnight editor’s chair after coming to KOMO Newsradio from Palm Springs, where he worked as an anchor in the morning and a reporter the rest of the day.

He had the chance to cover everything in California’s fastest growing county, from 100,000 acre wildfires to the day-to-day activities of his neighbors – people like former President Gerald Ford and Barbara Sinatra.

Ryan’s favorite assignment was always the red carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, which was started by the late Sonny Bono and has grown to be larger than Sundance. That gave him the opportunity to interview the likes of Gary Sinise, Charlize Theron, and William H. Macy.

Ryan also hosted a weekly talk show and worked weekends as a disc jockey at KOLA 99.9 FM in San Bernardino – and he managed to find lots of time to spend with his 8-year-old daughter, Chloe.
