SPD test drives options for new patrol car

Ford has announced it’s not manufacturing the Crown Victoria anymore, so the Seattle Police Department needs to decide on a different model to replace their patrol cars.

On Tuesday at the Bremerton Motorsports Park officers from the Seattle Police Department and other agencies test drove six different cars: The Chevrolet Impala, the Dodge Charger, the Ford Interceptor Sedan, the Chevrolet Caprice, the Chevrolet Tahoe SUV and the Ford Interceptor SUV.

This is some edited footage of Seattle detective Ron Smith taking some of the cars for a spin. These cars will be cycled through the precincts as patrol officers try them out and give their impressions starting in July, with a final decision on which models to purchase made seven months after that.
