Officers arrest suspected burglar at Seattle middle school

SEATTLE -- Officers arrested a suspected burglar at Washington Middle School in the Central District early Thursday morning.

According to the Seattle Police Department, officers arrived at the school after a silent alarm was tripped around 4 a.m. and saw a man moving around inside.

When the man tried to run out of the doors on the west side of the school, he was arrested, according to police.

Officers reported finding several items in the school's hallway it appeared the man had been trying to steal.

The 50-year-old man, who apparently got in through an unlocked classroom window, was booked into King County Jail.
