Gas station clerk tries to stop shoplifter, gets shot in the leg
SEATTLE -- A gas station clerk who tried to stop a shoplifter Friday night may be regretting the decision after the shoplifter shot him in the leg.

Police say a man walked into a 76 gas station near 9th Avenue and James Street Friday night and stole a single beer. A clerk followed the shoplifter out of the station, and roughly a block later the man pulled out a gun and shot the clerk in the leg, according to police.

The shooter then got into a Chevy Caprice and sped away.

The clerk, a man in his 20s, was taken to a hospital for treatment, but his injuries aren't life threatening.

Police have not yet released a description of the shooter.
