Pergola survives close call with crashing pickup
SEATTLE -- There was a close call Thursday morning for the historic Pioneer Square pergola.

A truck crashed into a fence near the pergola at 1st and Yesler, knocking over a light pole. The light pole went through the windshield, but the driver managed to get out... and run away. There's no word if he's been found.

The covered walkway has been the scene of several crashes over the years. A semi-truck clipped the landmark earlier this year, and it even had to be rebuilt in 2001 after another semi truck crashed into it.
