Police: Shoplifter armed with sharpened butter knife arrested

SEATTLE -- A 42-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning for allegedly threatening a 7-Eleven clerk with a sharpened butter knife during a shoplifting attempt.

According to the Seattle Police Department, the clerk at the store at First and Cherry watched the man shoplift a number of items around 4:40 a.m. and confronted  him outside. When the man pulled out a knife and threatened him, the clerk went back into the store and called 911, according to the report.

Officers were already investigating a crime a block away and arrived quickly, finding the suspect reportedly still holding the knife.

The suspect dropped the knife when ordered, and he was booked into King County Jail for investigation of robbery.
