Section of Seattle street named after J.P. Patches
SEATTLE-- A section of a Fremont street is now known as "J.P. Patches Place."

On Saturday, Christina Frost, granddaughter of Chris Wedes, the Seattle actor who played the role of the beloved clown - unveiled the new name on a stretch of North 34th Street between Fremont Avenue and Troll Avenue north.

The honorary name change does not change official addresses on the street or the legal name of 34th St.

Wedes died on july 22, 2012 after a long battle with cancer.

He was on television from 1958 to 1981, and enterained generations of Seattle-area children and adults with his unrehearsed show, which was broadcasted live and often twice a day.
