Student brings gun to Peninsula High School

GIG HARBOR, Wash. -- A student at Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor is now in custody after he brought a gun to school, officials said.

School officials were alerted that the student had a gun around 8:25 a.m. Friday morning, said Tim Winter with the Peninsula School District. The students was located and detained 5 minutes later.

Officials put the school in modified lockdown for 30 minutes as a precaution and then the day resumed as normal.
