Teen suffers life-threatening injuries in DUI crash

SEATTLE -- A 17-year-old was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a BMW driven by a man under the influence of a controlled substance collided with the Subaru the teen was riding in late Thursday in Greenwood, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to police, the BMW SUV crashed into a Subaru wagon at the intersection of Third Avenue Northwest and Northwest 90th Street around 11 p.m.

The 19-year-old driver of the BMW was found to be DUI and was booked into King County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault, according to police.

The BMW's female passenger was not injured.

The Subaru's 17-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

Two adults also in the Subaru suffered minor injuries and were also hospitalized.
