Five people escape mobile-home fire in Kent

Four adults and a child were able to escape to safety when a fire spread underneath their mobile home Jan. 27 in Kent.

According to the Kent Fire Department, the fire started around 8:30 p.m. when a malfunctioning furnace spread flames throughout the ducts below the mobile home in the 11300 block of Southeast 227th Place.

Firefighters cut a hole in the floor of the mobile home and were able to stop the fire before it spread to the inside of the home.

The displaced victims will be staying with relatives, according to the Fire Department.
