Boy, 4, found floating in swimming pool in critical condition

LACEY -- A 4-year-old boy is in critical condition after being found unresponsive in a pool at a Lacey apartment complex Saturday afternoon.

Before 4 p.m. medics and Lacey Police arrived at the Diamond Head Apartments located at 1510 College St. S.E. to find a father giving CPR to his son.

A preliminary investigation by police revealed the father fell asleep and when he woke up he noticed the child had left the apartment.

He immediately searched the apartment complex grounds and found his son in the pool and he was not responsive.

The boy's father jumped in the pool and grabbed the child and carried him to the apartment, notified the neighbors and began CPR, the police said.

The boy was transported to St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia where medical staff found a pulse. Soon after he was airlifted to Mary Bridge Hospital in Tacoma.
