The KOMO 4 Problem Solvers are stepping in to help a Marysville family after a devastating fire ripped through their home.

A KOMO photographer and reporter just happened to be in the area when the fire broke out Saturday night.

After they made sure the family was out, reporter Lindsay Cohen helped to make sure the family dog did not run back into the home. Photographer Eric Jenson captured the fire on camera.

Lindsay went back to the home on Monday to check in with the family.

Cheryl Boober and her 12-year-old son Jacob have been able to salvage a few things, but have lost so much more.

"Until we get back in and we have new memories to make, I don't want to go in there and see all the devastation in that spot where we are so close," Cheryl said.

Monday, the Problem Solvers took Jacob shopping for new clothes, school supplies and toiletries. Mom got a few things too.

The family does have insurance, but KOMO wanted to make sure they at least had the basics until they know how much will be covered.
