SEATTLE - A 13-year-old boy is hospitalized after falling through the skylight on a school roof in North Seattle on Saturday, police said.

Detective Jeff Kappel of the Seattle police said he was one of three boys who were playing on the roof of Eckstein Middle School, in the 300o block of NE 75th Street at around 5 p.m. Saturday.

The boys were apparently jumping or attempting to jump over a skylight on the roof, Kappel said. During one attempt, the victim crashed through the skylight and fell an estimated 25 feet, landing on the floor inside the school.

Officers and fire department medics responded to the scene. The boy was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate.
