Two days, four robberies at Seattle bus stops

SEATTLE -- Bus stops are the frequent site of minor robberies, both armed and unarmed. And last week was no different, with at least four bus-stop robberies in two days.

2:53 p.m. Oct. 10 in the 6900 block of East Green Lake Way North

The victim was standing at a bus stop when another man walked up with his hands in his pockets and demanded the victim's cellphone and cash, according to the Seattle Police Department's report for the incident.

The victim later told officers he didn't know if the man had a weapon or not and figured he better give him what he wanted. The robber ran off with $90 and the victim's cellphone, according to the report.

5:25 p.m. Oct. 10 at 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street

The victim, who regularly takes the bus to Seattle Central Community College, was sitting in the bus shelter and listening to music on her iPhone when a man walked up and stood next to her.

The victim thought the man was just waiting for the bus, but he suddenly snatched the iPhone out of her hand and ran off, according to the police report for the incident.

She later told officers she shouted for help and for someone to call 911, but no one did.

2:57 a.m. Oct. 11 in the 12000 block of 15th Avenue Northeast

The victim was waiting at a bus stop when two men came up to him and started making casual conversation. According to the police report for the incident, one of the men pointed to his laptop case and asked what was in it.

Before waiting for an answer, the men grabbed the case containing the victim's computer and ran off, according to the report.

Officers arrived to find the victim with cuts and scrapes to his face, but he said he was hurt before the robbery because he was so intoxicated he fell down.

12:40 p.m. Oct. 11 in the 11000 block of Beacon Avenue South

The victim was standing in a bus stop when two men approached, pulled out a gun and demanded money and a passport, according to the police report for the incident.

When the victim said he didn't have either money or a passport, the men took his cellphone and ran off, according to the report.
