Police arrest suspected car thief after morning pursuit

REDMOND, Wash. -- An 18-year-old Kent resident was arrested Wednesday morning after fleeing officers in a stolen car, according to the Redmond Police Department.

According to police, someone called 911 around 8:15 a.m. to report a car driving erratically on Avondale Road in Redmond. The caller gave police the license plate number; it turns out the car had been reported stolen out of Federal Way 45 minutes earlier.

Officers found the car heading westbound on SR520 and watched as it exited into Clyde Hill. They picked it back up again near Northeast 92nd Street.

According to police, the car swerved toward officers, who used a "stop stick" on it. The car crashed into a post in a neighborhood yard, and the driver ran off, according to police.

Officers chased after the suspect and arrested him. He was booked into King County Jail on investigation of possession of stolen property and eluding.
