SEATTLE -- A sex offender accused of luring an 11-year-old girl into his Renton motorhome has been charged with child rape.

King County prosecutors claim Keith Raymond Geyman sexually assaulted the girl after she encountered him while playing near his broken-down RV. Geyman, 62, is alleged to have given the girl a Bible immediately before attacking her.

On the evening of May 19, Renton police responded to the 100 block of Lake Avenue following a report that a child had been sexually assaulted there.

The area, a block from Renton High School, plays host to numerous homeless people living in cars or campers. Geyman, a homeless sex offender with no permanent address, was apparently living in a RV on a vacant lot there.

The day of the alleged attack, the girl and a sibling were playing there when they reportedly encountered Geyman, who invited them to take items from a motorhome he claimed to be disassembling for sale.

According to charging papers, the girl had collected a box of mints, a small Bible and a picture of Jesus Christ from the motorhome. Writing the court, a Renton Police detective said the girl was holding the items when Geyman reached into her clothing and began groping her.

The girl rushed back to her family home and spoke with an adult, who called 911. Police located and arrested Geyman hours later.

Speaking with police, Geyman admitted to speaking with the children and allowing the girl inside his home, but did not address the allegations against him.

Investigators believe Geyman was previously convicted of sodomizing a 9-year-old boy in Montana. A conviction related to that 1984 incident forces him to register as a sex offender, though police had yet to confirm that press reports from the time correctly describe the sexual assault.

Due to his prior conviction for a sexually assault, Geyman could face a life sentence if convicted. He has been charged with first-degree child rape and remains jailed.
