Seattle Humane focuses on adult dog adoptions this weekend
Friends take this lucky little guy to the "get acquainted" area.

Gail Hale of Bellevue just adopted an adult, toy fox terrier at the Seattle Humane Society (SHS) this first morning of the weekend-long adult dog promotion.

"I rescue dogs and have owned as many as nine dogs at a time," said Hale, who recently started Lil Yappers Dog Sitting & Walking. "I just lost two older dogs so I got Axel."

While a young couple from Seattle, Julia Marcy and Matt Goulet, fell for a darling Australian shepherd-mix puppy, for the next three days the adoption center is focused on finding new homes for older dogs.

"We are celebrating back to school with the 20 percent off adult dogs," explained Amanda Walde of the SHS. "Older dogs make great companions because they often have had some training, you can judge their personalities easier than puppies and they make an amazing extra-curricular activity and "friend" for kids to help them get outside."

Still, if you can't quite handle a dog, Walde added that the center is "busting at the seams with kittens!"

Adoption Center Hours:

Open seven days a week!

Sunday - Wednesday: 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
