One dead, one injured in Shelton shooting
SHELTON, Wash. -- A Tuesday night shooting in Shelton left one person dead and another injured.

The shooting may have stemmed from a disturbance earlier in the day at a home in the 1900 block of South First Street, according to Lt. Les Watson with the Shelton Police Department.

Watson said the shooter returned to the house hours later and began firing.

It's unclear how many shots were fired, but one person was killed and another was wounded. That victim was taken to Mason County General Hospital with hand or arm wounds, Watson said.

Police arrived on scene just as the alleged shooter sped off in a car.

Steve Hagen lives nearby and witnessed the brief chase. He said the alleged shooter was driving so fast that gravel kicked up from his tires broke windows on two cars.

Officers gave chase and soon caught up with him, at which point the accused shooter bailed out of his car and took off on foot, Watson said. Officers followed suit and it didn't take long for them to run the man down.

"He got out, threw his gun in the bushes and he ran out across the road and they caught him in front of the house," Hagen said.

The man was arrested and booked into jail. Neither he nor the deceased have been identified.
