Stolen truck reportedly rams police car; driver escapes

SHELTON, Wash. -- A person discovered driving a stolen pickup truck Thursday night in Shelton rammed a police cruiser and tried to run over an officer before escaping on foot, according to the Shelton Police Department.

According to police, an officer stopped a 2008 Dodge pickup truck reported driving recklessly around 10:45 p.m. near South 12th Street and May Avenue. After a few seconds, the truck, which was reported stolen from Elma, sped away from the officer, according to police.

As police pursued the stolen pickup, the driver reportedly rammed a police car and tried to run over an officer before losing control and crashing into a fence and parked cars in the 300 block of South Seventh Street.

According to police, the driver and a passenger ran off and were unable to be found. A third person was detained at the scene but not arrested.
