It was a great day at the Evergreen State Fair, as the second day got underway.
It was also time for the Fair Cares Food Drive, where people were able to get into the fair for free between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. if they brought three cans of food, which would be donated to the Snohomish County Food Bank Coalition. KOMO News 4, KOMO Newsradio and KOMONews.com were sponsors of Friday's event.
Hundreds of people came out with bags filled with cans of food, ready to be donated. After they dropped the cans off, they got a stamp on their hands to allow them to get inside the gates for free.
The clouds steadily gave way to bright blue skies as the day went on. The fair was in high gear, and many of the attractions that have brought fans to the fairgrounds for decades were back.
The fair runs through Labor Day. Next Friday is another chance to bring three cans of food to the fairgrounds between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and get in for free.
