Deputies nab man accused of tying Snohomish woman to her toilet
SNOHOMISH, Wash. -- Deputies believe they've nabbed the man who robbed an elderly Snohomish woman and left her tied up on her own toilet Tuesday afternoon.

After receiving an anonymous tip, Snohomish County sheriff's deputies arrested the 35-year-old Everett man early Wednesday morning at a Lake Stevens business.

A 70-year-old Snohomish woman came home Tuesday afternoon and found a burglar inside her house, according to Shari Ireton with the Snohomish County sheriff's office.

Ireton said the burglar tied the woman to her own toilet before driving away in her 2011 Ford Escape. After spending roughly an hour on the toilet, the homeowner was able to free herself and call 911.

The woman didn't need medical attention, but her husband, Gilbert Hayes, said she was traumatized by the events.

"She'll be ok," he said. "That's a terrific trauma, especially when you're in suspense for a period of time, and you don't know what the outcome is going to be."

Deputies say the suspect, who has not been named, admitted to stealing a television, jewelry, and coins. He also admitted to stealing the Ford Escape, but deputies have yet to find the vehicle.

The man is facing charges of burglary, robbery and unlawful imprisonment.
