Family hears bang, finds bullet in hotel room

SEATTLE (AP) - Seattle police say a man and his family spending the night in a fifth floor room at a hotel in the city's south Lake Union area were startled awake by a loud bang.

The man found a bullet on the floor near his daughter's bed early Monday morning.

Officers found that the bullet had been fired through the wall of a neighboring room, rented out Sunday evening to a group of teenagers.

Police found two teen boys in the hotel lobby and were able to learn they had been in the room with a teenage girl and another teenage boy, who had been carrying a gun.

Police say it appears the gun went off, sending a bullet through a bed and into the neighboring family's room. The teen with the gun and the girl fled.

Officers also found a bloody washcloth in the teens' room.
