Police: Robbers pistol-whip elderly women outside temple

SEATTLE -- Two elderly women were leaving a Buddhist temple Saturday afternoon in South Seattle when they were pistol-whipped and robbed by two purse-snatchers, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to police, the victims had just left the Duoc Su Temple in the 6900 block of 42nd Avenue South shortly after 2 p.m. when two young men tried to steal their purses.

When one of the victims refused to let go of her purse, one of the robbers hit her over the head with a handgun, according to police.

The men ran off, and responding officers were unable to find them.
