The Fourth of July is almost here and fireworks went on sale in unincorporated parts of Thurston County on Monday. Fireworks will go on sale in Olympia and Tumwater on Thursday.
According to the county, 9-1-1 dispatch received more than 250 fireworks related calls last year.
Here's a reminder of the rules around the county:
Unincorporated Thurston County: The sale of fireworks is legal from June 28 through noon on July 6. It is legal to discharge fireworks only from 9 AM to 11 PM on July 3 and 4.
Tumwater and Olympia: Fireworks may be purchased from 9 a.m., July 1 to 11 p.m. on July 4. Allowed fireworks may be discharged only on July 3 and 4 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 p.m.
Lacey: Sale and discharge of fireworks are banned within the city limits.
