Police: Alert witness, bad driving foil young car thieves

SEATTLE -- An alert witness and some pretty bad driving foiled a couple of young car thieves Thursday night in West Seattle, according to the Seattle Police Department.

A witness called 911 around 11:15 p.m. to report a teen jumping a fence in the 5400 block of Delridge Way Southwest to let a second teen into a parking garage.

According to police, the witness went down to the garage and watched as the teens broke into a Toyota and promptly reversed it into a fence.

Officers arrived and found two teens hiding in an alley behind the Delridge Library. The 14-year-old and 15-year-old were booked into the Youth Services Center.
