DirectionsPeel pears. Cut in half and remove the core. Put pears in a skillet over high heat and cover with wine. Add sugar, cinnamon, vanilla bean, allspice and orange rind.Bring to a boil. Remove from stove and finish cooking in a 400 degree oven 20-25 minutes. Every 5 minutes pull pears out and baste. You’re looking for the pears to be soft, but not mushy. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, toasted pecans and mint for garnish. Serves 4. Recipe from Phillip Mihalski, Nell’s Restaurant |
