Candied Apple ChipsBy Todd JohnsonIngredients
DirectionsCombine sugar, water, cinnamon stick and cloves in a large saucepan. Bring to a simmer. You can use smaller amounts of sugar and water if you want to make less chips. Just make sure to keep the amounts even.Remove cores from the apples. Cut into slices that are 1/8" thick. Add to pan with the simmering liquid for 2-3 minutes. Remove apples from liquid and place on a cookie sheet covered with wax paper. Put in a 250 degree oven for 35-45 minutes until brown. You'll want to check them each 10 minutes or so, since oven cooking times can vary. Once out of the oven, let them cool. You can eat them alone or top them with a hearty appetizer like curried chicken. Serves 4-6. Recipe from Tom Black, Barking Frog |
