Bananas FosterBy Todd JohnsonIngredients4 ripe bananas 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup rum (optional) 1 cup heavy cream 4 scoops vanilla ice cream DirectionsPeel bananas and cut them in half lengthwise. Pour sugar into a frying pan and place over medium heat.Cook the sugar without stirring until it melts and turns a light caramel color. Then stir with a wooden spoon until the sugar turns to a peanut butter color. Add bananas to the pan, followed by the rum. Caution: the rum will cause the pan to flame, but the alcohol will burn off. Add the cream. The sugar will turn into hardened caramel. Keep cooking and it will dissolve. Remove from heat and top with vanilla ice cream. Serves 4. Recipe from Kaspar Donier, Kaspar's |
