BELLEVUE, Wash. -- We can thank the economic downturn for a new wine bar in Bellevue.

After 19 years as a mortgage banker, Steve Walker literally turned to the bottle to get him through the hard times: "As everybody knows who has watched the news or has read the papers, it was a good time to get out of that business."

So, on May 1, Steve and two of his buddies opened Grand Cru Wine Shop & Bar: "Grand Cru is a term that is the very best cuvees, the very best wines associated with Bordeauxs and Burgundys."

Grand Cru offers the whole wine lifestyle experience to those who are new to wine - as well as seasoned collectors. "During the week, it's mostly a very comforting place to end your day. On Friday nights, which is our 'Thank God It's Champagne' Fridays, we play 80s music all night long and serve 16 different bubblies by the glass."

There's also a sizeable collection of small plates. "Pates, crostini, different cheese plates. One of our most popular happy hour items is the pork sliders. You get two sizeable pork sliders with chips for five-dollars. So, it's a great way to fill up and be able to taste a lot of great wine, really."

Images of Saturn and almost full moon. The images of Saturn
and 6 (of its 62 moons)were taken Sunday morning at 2am. Not
great conditions, especially with the bright moon. A Meade
LX6 telescope and a ZWOASI120MC video camera were used for
Saturn.

Heading south on I-5 on Saturday, May 2nd, I noticed how gorgeous the mountain looked, so pulled off the freeway at Albro and parked near the back side of Boeing Field to take some pictures.

Photos taken at the 2015 Seattle May Day protests. Protestors and innocent bystanders filled the streets of Seattle to protest or innocently watch the mayhem as it unfolded. Most of the protests turned into some sort of riot, but the police did a great job handling the situation.
