The Schrammie: Sticking it to homeowners again

SEATTLE -- Crafty guy, he was hoping to pull a rabbit out of his political hat.

But there's no magic in his trick.

So let's see what Frank Chopp, the all powerful Speaker of the State House, really has up his sleeve.

Hey Frank, come on down.

For the second year in a row, the Great and Mighty Speaker has had his way in killing a bill that would've provided homeowners with protection against shoddy construction.

The measure, aptly named "The Homeowners Bill of Rights", set it up so that when contractors did a crappy job of building a house, the people stuck with that house would've been able to go to court and sue.

But Frank, The Great and Mighty Speaker, cares less about homeowners and more about his friends in the building industry.

Frank's come up with some toothless alternative, but it's nothing near what homeowners really need.

So, for sticking it to average folk who could use some legal recourse against shoddy construction; for giving special interests special consideration while leaving homeowners in the lurch, take a bow Frank Chopp because this “Schrammie” is for you.

And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 3-6 p.m. on AM 570 KVI.

It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action.
