SEATTLE - Hey, it's only money.
Well, OK, it's taxpayer's money, but gosh-oh-golly, those Northshore school administrators work really, really hard.
So if all 93 of those nose-to-the-grindstone civil servants would stop stuffing public dollars in their pockets for a moment, I'd sure like them to come on down.
Those crafty Northshore administrators have a really cool contract. They get to take school district money and splurge on stuff like flat screen TV's, iPods and digital cameras.
Not for the kids. Not for the classroom.
What's more, they figure the $1,800 they each get to purchase personal technology is a perk they deserve.
So far, they've collectively spent $120,000. But they defend themselves by talking about all the extra hours they work for no extra pay.
Hey, it's hard stretching those paltry $100,000 salaries.
Which is why all of us should feel good for them being able to buy stuff like a $1,300 digital camera, or a GPS system for their car so they don't get lost on their way to work.
So, for all 93 Northshore School District administrators who are bilking the taxpayer and milking the system; for all 93 of you who mutter something about kids being the future, but who want to spend public money NOW, take a bow, because this "Schrammie" is for all you weasels.

And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 3-6 p.m. on AM 570 KVI.
It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action.
