SEATTLE -- You can still see a hint of the young ensign "Wesley Crusher" behind Wil Wheaton's beard. He's 36 years old now, and an accomplished author and blogger. Wheaton is in town for the Emerald City Comicon at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.

"We who are geeks can go to these events and have nothing to be ashamed of," Wheaton said. "We can have a great time. We can meet the people who create the comic books and sci-fi shows and movies we absolutely love."

Wheaton is a huge comic book fan, and will be signing autographs and posing for pictures.

"It's an opportunity for me to meet and interact with people who enjoy my work, or read my blog, or follow me on twitter, or read my books."

He's been busy since TNG went off the air 15 years ago. Wheaten is the author of four books: "Just a Geek", "Dancing Barefoot", "The Happiest Days of our Lives", and "Sunken Treasure."

"I primarily write narrative nonfiction," he said. "I write stories about being a geek, and being a stepfather, being a husband. I write stories about my experiences as an actor, and my experiences being a Star Trek actor, which is kind of a unique thing."

His next book due out in May is "Memories of the Future", which is based on his reviews of the first season of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." He describes it as humorous, sarcastic, and "mystery science theatre in print."

"I used to watch 'Next Generation', and I would look at it the way we would look at a high school yearbook, where we would say to our friends, 'I cant' believe I thought that was cool.' "

Wheaton has also kept up with his acting; playing a serial killer on Criminal Minds, and a comic creator on Numbers.

He's also a popular voice actor.
