Apple Fritters from the Library Bistro
5 cups AP flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup butter milk
2 granny smith apples, peeled and small diced
Cinnamon sugar
Vanilla whipped cream
Mix dry ingredients. Wisk eggs and buttermilk together. Fold into dry mix. DO NOT WISK OR OVERMIX. fold in apples.
Using a scooper or large spoon drop into 350 degree oil. Allow to cook until golden brown. Remove and toss with cinnamon sugar if desired.
Serve with vanilla whipped cream cheese.

i think it is 1.5 cups flour
This recipe calls for too much flour for the liquid ingredients. Is this an error?

These fritters are the same as what we make in Holland, they are called " Oliebollen " some have apple inside, and are called apple flensjes , some have raisins & currants inside.
