Yorkie catches Copperhead after snake bites owner
An afternoon gardening in the backyard sent a Virginia woman and her Yorkie to the emergency room. Both were bitten by a Copperhead snake. But, as Brian Farrell reports, the dog wasn't going to let the snake get away without a fight.
Komo - that's not a Yorkie - it's a Westie.
As a person proudly owned by a Westie, I am able to say without a doubt, that's a Westie, thru and thru!
Why did the reporter call her dog a Yorkie? I thought this was a West Highland terrier?
That is a GREAT dog! What a cutie and protective! Westie's are awesome, but of course I think all dogs are awesome.Â

Glad they will both recover!
I hope they had her checked out by a vet afterwards. She seems kinda lethargic for a Westie with company in the house. Busy day, I guess.
@Insomniac Dreams In the video they did say the dog went to the vet and is on meds now.
@Koawoodplayer Thanks! I didn't catch that. I'm sure she will be back to her old self in no time. Westies are great dogs. Â
Gonna have to call her "Tenacious T"! A terriorizer doing what a terriorizer is bred to do-get the vermin! Probably the only reason that little dog is still alive is because her owner got most of the venom and the snake didn't have time to "recharge" before biting her. Glad they will both be making a full recovery!
I'm glad they're both ok. What a great dog. A friend transferred to Poplar Bluff, MO, and continues to find copperheads and rattlesnakes in his yard and hates the area w/ its nakes. I grew up a tthe base of the foothills in Los Angeles and once in a while rattlers would come into the area and they were plentiful in the hills. The best thing about the Puget Sound area is no poisonous snakes, I've seen a Black Widow but not a Brosn Recluse yet.

Good doggie.
That doesn't look like any yorkie I have ever seen. . . .
Definitely, obviously, a Westie! Â
Looks more like a Westie than a Yorkie....

Good puppy!
@HonkeyCat Was going to say the same thing, but you beat me by a few hours. Westies are very smart dogs and very loyal - and they are terriers through and through.
