Excellent interview with Drs Julie & John Gottman on Signs Of an Affair - Â in the short time they are speaking they make many good points on what to look for that an affair is happening as well as what is involved in healing a relationship post affair & what are the signs that recovery is unlikely to occur.
Recovery is very possible and in fact they say often there is a better marriage/committed relationship post affair. That has definitely been my experience with the many couples I have worked with. I would underline though, my opinion is it would be a very rare relationship that can do the healing and repair work without expert coaching - my metaphor is it is like trying to give yourself or each other a "root canal" to use the dentist imagery  - & without an anesthetic!Â
I especially love John Gottmanâs comment talking about when there is loyalty & cherishing in a relationship:
 âwhen you hurt the world stops and I listenâ. How profound and touching is that!!â¡ Â
