Someone my dad worked with at Boeing snapped this photo of an F3 tornado touching down in Kent on Dec 12, 1969.

Seventeen-month-old, Quinn gives "Marlee" a High 5.

From a customer service perspective, this is ridiculous. Yes, the ladies are overweight. However, if I made a note that one of my customers was being a b*tch, no matter how true it was, if they saw it, I would be out a job.
Similar to the "LADY CHINKY EYES" receipt at NYC Papa Johns several months ago. Dumb people have finally infiltrated the service industry. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.Â
The whole thing boils down to respect. It isn't anyone's place to comment on a stranger's weight, or any other thing for that matter. It's an adolescent mentality to think that making fun of someone for a flaw will motivate them to change that flaw.Â
Â
Also, why is it okay to comment on the obese but not anybody else? What about the extremely skinny? That's extremely unhealthy, too. Why not make snide remarks to the people getting on the elevator instead of using the stairs? Why not yell at the multitudes of people standing on the street smoking cigarettes? The bottom line is that the obese are easy, seemingly non-threatening targets, that's why. It has nothing to do with something that should be changed that a person can change. Saying things like that isn't helping these people. Some obese people are that way due to depression and comments like that make them eat more.Â
Â
If you honestly think this was okay you've got the maturity of a 14 year old. Respect is universal. Respect is an ADULT behavior.Â
@jowsuf The whole thing boils down to being too sensitive. People need to stop crying about every little bad comment they hear.
I was called tons of different names and nicknames growing up, and tons of rude people I met as an adult too, and none of my stories made it on the news, perhaps I should call KOMO and whine about all of them?
What this amateur reporter should have done is throw this story in the garbage and leave room for real news stories from more seasoned reporters.
@commentator   Well I think the reason this made the news is because it happened at a business by the business. It isn't a whiny bully story, it's a consumer experience. There's a difference.
@jowsuf Very well stated!
What's the big deal? They ARE fat! If it was a table of tall guys and he wrote "tall guys", this wouldn't be an issue. And ironically, being tall is something that you cannot help, yet being fat IS something you can help. This is not news. If you don't want to be called fat, then don't be fat - plain and simple.
 @Jason D. ...really?
The server was out of line, extremely judgemental and rude to make a comment like that right on the receipt. So what if someone is large, small, tall, short, black, white, whatever. They paid to get service, not to be told what they looked like. I'm hoping the server was fired, because the actions really reflect on the integrity of the company. Its called human decency.
That's a great way to treat people who are contributing to your paycheck.
Hate to break it to you ladies... but you are ahem.. large... I thought maybe that friend that as like 'let me see it' thought he said P.H.A.TÂ - but in this case they were not Pretty Hot And Tempting... instead they were Pretty Heavy And totally unappealing...
Â
I would laugh as well as I see no shortage of huge lazy people everyday and they hardly can even get in/out of their cars...there is another thing too... these are the people who get too darn fat to work - run up huge medical bills from weight related illnesses AND they collect disability because they are fat! - Sheesh wish more of these people would get shammed into doing an hour of exercise five times a week and eating right.
Â
I used to be much larger than I am now and to me 200+ lbs and getting winded walking up my stairs to my place was the last straw! I went to the gym began eating right now I am of healthy weight again 175. I don't have a lot of muscle mass but I did not want that when I started... if Olympia wanted to do something useful they could implement a fat tax ... seriously folks you are what and where you eat! The wife does miss the pillow I was carrying around but she is only 108 and I was like dam laopo I am two of you in one, this has gotta go ... It was nice to get back down to a 36" waist again. No I did not do any Jenny Craig or weight watchers blah blah blah fad diets. I changed my portions and cut out the junk and drank water each day. The weight does believe it or not melt right off if you if you stick to your snacking / meal schedule. It took me almost a year to get to where I am now and I don't regret the effort and now all I do is simply maintain what I have.
Â
Another thing I am tired of hearing is the darn 'it is in my genes' excuse...I can tell ya it is WAY easier to put it on than it is to take it off!
@Freespeech Last time I remember people laughing at others for being fat was in middle school.
Â
It isn't your place to comment on a stranger's weight. It's called respect. That's the whole point.Â
How is it ok to discriminate..Will the server now be able to describe one table as the midget table and the other table as paraplegic table, REALLY come on people show some respect and grow up everyone comes in different shapes and sizes or are we back in GRADE SCHOOL or do you not  realize that words hurt regardless if there true. I was brought up to have manners and treat people with respect no matter what!!
So, this is 'news' to them??
@JT1958 that someone thinks they are fat? Well you know it's not nice to name use derogatory names any more...we must be gentle on their fragile psyches. I'm sorry I just can't take the PC thing anymore. These 3 ladies are morbidly obese and while not a kind thing to put...a accurate description was used...the guys opinion and one that is supported in fact, if they do not like it change it or do not eat there anymore, but to go crying to the media is ridiculous.
@JT1958 ...dang it one too many "name(s)" in my second sentence!!
Guess what ladies, you are 'fat girls'
"I'm like, I was like, she was like, we were like, omg!"
Â
Don't like being called fat? Stop being fat. Weird, huh?
Â
My brother used to tease me about being really skinny when we were kids. As I got older, I focused on eating well and working out. Now I'm physically superior to him and make a point to mention it whenever I think he's getting a little 'uppity'. Â :)
@GreatWhiteLlama Don't like being depressed? Stop being depressed. Don't like doing heroin? Stop doing heroin. Don't like having leukemia? Stop having leukemia.Â
Â
It isn't that cut and dried for everyone.
If it quacks like a duck, and if it waddles like a duck...
Â
It's ironic how "fat" is okay depending on nothing more than who says it, like another well-known term we have to dance around - you know, "unless."

Reality bites ... maybe lay off some of the soda
This happens hundreds of times each day, is KOMO going to report on every story where someone gets offended? So what if the server uses their shape, size, height, coloror look to remember. Happened to me many times before and I didn't cry about it. Nothing racist or personal or offensive is meant by it, just easier to remember if you got 20 tables to serve. Who is this reporter that thought this story had to make news
Are they fat? I didn't watch the story as there was 30 seconds of Verizon android junk before the video.Â
@ALTemp Yes they are pretty large indeed
