Storefront screening explores relationship between hip hop and South African youth

Since launching almost two years ago, Olson Kundig Architects Storefront project has sought to educate the masses through art, examination and discussion. This Thursday, the firm will present and discuss the documentary film, Masizakhe: Building Each Other by filmmakers Scott and Angelica Macklin.

The film explores the principles and relevance of hiphop, black consciousness and history to the youth’s continuing struggle for freedom in the Eastern Cape city of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The film begins at 6:30 p.m. and a discussion with the filmmakers will immediately follow.
