Broadway farmers market opens for business

The Broadway farmers market officially opened Sunday.
It features a full selection of local, in-season fruits and vegetables from Puget Sound and Eastern Washington, farmstead cheeses, fresh baked goods, organic and pasture-raised meats, seafood, honey, eggs, cut flowers, jams and preserves.
In the spring, look for early greens, baby turnips, tender asparagus, plant starts and tangy rhubarb. As the season progresses through summer and fall, you'll find all kinds of local berries, cherries, peaches, apricots, herbs, greens, summer and winter squashes, tomatoes, peppers, root vegetables, apples, pears, wild mushrooms, and more.
The market moved this year to a fabulous new spot, right in front of Seattle Central Community College on Capitol Hill, at Broadway and Pine. The market will remain open Sundays from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. through Dec. 23, so you can eat local for the holidays too.
