Winemakers buying Willamette Valley vineyards

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Winemakers have been buying vineyards in the Willamette Valley.

The Statesman Journal reports the Northwest Wine Company of Dundee bought two vineyards south of Monmouth in Polk County for $3.9 million. The vineyards will be another source of grapes for the company's own brands and private label products for others.

And, Jackson Family Wines of Sonoma County, Calif., bought two vineyard properties southwest of Monmouth for $3.4 million. The company produces wines for the Kendal-Jackson brand.
