Gene Juarez makes mammograms just a day at the salon

Most women don’t look forward to having a mammogram. The experience can be uncomfortable or scary. And for those without insurance the test can be impossible to afford. But Gene Juarez has partnered with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Assured Imaging to make mammograms fun and affordable this month by bringing the imaging test to the salon.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Assured Imaging will bring their mammogram machinery to each Gene Juarez salon where women having the breast cancer screening will be treated to a free hand treatment or foot soak, a cup of tea and a special gift. Plus, each woman will be entered to win a $100 Gene Juarez gift card. There will be one winner at each location.
“It’s incentivizing woman to take better care of themselves,” said Carri Pender, founder of Assured Imaging. “The salon is salon so comfortable and relaxing. Gene Juarez makes any woman feel good!”
Assured Imaging will accept insurance at these events, but for those who are uninsured or underinsured the test is free.
“We want to make it more special for them,” said Pender. “It means a lot to women who would otherwise go without a mammogram and don’t get that kind of attention anywhere else.”
All woman who sign up for these events will be treated by a woman using state-of-the-art equipment.

This is an awesome opportunity!! Sad that not all women are able to take advantage of this offer. I have a lump in my breast and have a referral to get a mammogram from Planned Parenthood. But because I am 38 and not 40 years of age I do not qualify for this program. I hope that every woman that needs one will be able to get one.
Why do women whine about getting mammograms? I've had them, they hurt a bit - and I have a pacemaker on one side, so I feel that side a bit more. I've had two problematic exams, leading in one case to a biopsy (negative). I just don't see why women complain about them. There are other exams that are more uncomfortable, but we all survive just fine. Yes, the Gene Juarez thing is nice, and I'm sure it's good PR for them. But really it's overkill for such a minor, routine exam.
If you can afford Gene Juarez you're probably on top of your breast cancer screening. Just a guess.
What a fantastic idea! I hope lots of women take advantage of this offer. Too bad more businesses don't do things like this. It should help business at Gene Juarez too.
