Getting geeky on game night

Geekwire is daring you to channel your inner geek and join them for a night of board games and merriment.

The technology news site is hosting its first ever meet up and board game night Feb. 8 at Belltown’s Spitfire Bar and Grill to break the monotony of grey skies and rain. The team will bust out some of their favorite games – along with a few modern classics courtesy of the Xbox 360 Kinect. The competition will begin at 5 p.m.

Lord of Catan devotees will finally have a place to trade valuables with others as organizers plans to host the game in the bar’s north terrace.

This is a 21-and-over event with a no-host bar. There’s a $5 entry fee to cover some light snacks, prizes and other goodies.

It is also BYOBG: Bring Your Own Board Game. Organizers also encourage everyone to bring their personal versions of Catan, Risk, Magic or perhaps something new and mind-blowing.
The folks at Card Kingdom also plan to provide a full slate of fun card and board games, including The Resistance, Revolution!, Ca$h n Gun$, The Red Dragon Inn, Dixit, King of Tokyo, Telestrations and Sneaks and Stitches.  A few lucky, top-performing participants could win these games and other prizes at the end of the night.
