Will the Press Conference Be Wednesday?

It looks like everyone is on the same page as far as Adam and George are concerned. Both had their physicals in Baltimore yesterday, but what of Erik Bedard?

I just got off the phone with John Hickey of the Seattle P-I and he tells me that he has confirmation that Erik Bedard was still in Canada as of 2 p.m. Pacific and at that time he had yet to hear from the Mariners. John is a great reporter and I see no reason not to trust his sources. His blog item however, was not clear on this item which is why I gave him a call.

Now, that's not to say that it is impossible that a press conference could be held tomorrow, but it is highly unlikely. Bedard could conceivably catch a flight late tonight or early tomorrow and be here by noon. The problem is the physical will take some time.

What goes into one of these physicals? A lot. The process can easily take a whole day. Bedard in the company of Head Trainer Rick Griffin most likely will be chaufered from doctor to doctor in Seattle and undergo everything from eye tests to stress tests to blood tests. No doubt his surgically repaired elbow will be closely scrutinized as well. It's not going to be a ton of fun for Erik, but at least he will get out of his team physical Feb. 13 in Peoria.

So, as I have said before, we wait...
