Two kids rescued from frozen lake
SEABECK, Wash. -- Two 9-year-old girls were rescued after becoming stranded on a frozen lake Tuesday afternoon.

Central Kitsap County Fire officials say the two were at the park next to ice-covered Lake Symington around noon when they decided to follow some foot tracks to an island about 75 feet away from the shoreline.

Once on the island, the girls determined that the ice was not stable and could not cross back over.

They screamed for help until a passerby heard them and called 911.

Rescue officials used a small boat to get across the fragile lake and reach the two kids. They were then able to ferry them back to safety on the shoreline.

Medics checked the two back on shore and the two were said to be very cold, but otherwise OK.
