SEATTLE -- Filmmakers raced to secure the rights for a movie based on the Barefoot Bandit, but it turns out Colton Harris-Moore beat them all to the punch.

Harris-Moore apparently was shooting his own movie during his cross-country crime spree and KOMO News has exclusively obtained roughly 45 minutes of the footage.

The footage includes firsthand perspective shots as Harris-Moore taxis an airplane down a lonely airstrip at night.  Then shockingly the camera continues rolling as this untrained underage pilot takes flight in the stolen aircraft.

In other clips we see Harris-Moore driving a stolen car down a rural road, hiding in a jungle like area and even peering out of a plane at cruising altitude.

Watch KOMO 4 News tonight at 11:00 p.m. as we broadcast exclusive footage the Barefoot Bandit shot in Idaho, Indiana, South Carolina and even the Bahamas where he was ultimately captured and arrested.
